Josefa Salinas
CEO
DSAW Media & Salinas Media & Communications

Josefa Salinas’ sensuous, yet commanding voice has delighted listeners throughout California for 25 years. This breakthrough female Latina DJ, who delighted fans on L.A.’s HOT 92.3, has become a role model for women, and a powerful symbol for Latinos. Mayor Erick Garcetti recently appointed Josefa as a Los Angeles Commissioner overseeing the Public Libraries where she now serves as President of the Commission. Josefa’s out of the box thinking is sure to make the Los Angeles Library system a model for the country to emulate! Josefa is a recent graduate of the Latina Global Executive Leadership Program sponsored by USC Marshall School of Business.

From 1993-1997, Josefa became known as the "Angelita de la Noche ” at L.A.’s POWER 106, and created the “KNOWLEDGE IS POWER” foundation. Josefa joined HOT 92.3 in the summer of 2001, where she held the morning show “What’s going on around town” position as well as hosting a highly acclaimed talk show every Sunday morning from 7am-8am called “The Community Review”. Josefa also served as the stations Community Affairs Director leading them to the coveted “NAB Crystal Award” in 2007 & 2014!. In 2012 KTLKam1150 called on Josefa and her skills to join the ranks of talk radio. When KTLK turned to ultra conservative positioning that did not reflect her core values Josefa turned her energies towards her non profit: The Pursuit of Excellence Institute where she hopes to start a broadcast company to serve the community and continue her work year round with her highly acclaimed “How To Be a Girl Program”.

Josefa is one of the few air personalities in the industry that can boast successful runs in Adult contemporary, Urban, Urban AC, Hip-Hop, Jazz, News, Talk and Crossover formats. When asked about her philosophy, Josefa states, “It is my responsibility to be the voice of those who cannot be heard. To represent the listeners’ opinions, celebrations, complaints and concerns. My dream is to continue to provide needed assistance nationwide and give the underserved a voice.” Josefa stands by her personal philosophy and ends her weekly show with, “Stay strong, stay focused and most of all stay informed.” Josefa was honored by the Fathers and Families Coalition of America receiving their 2015 National Leader of the Year Award. She is a graduate of the HOPE Latina Institute class of 2007, National Latina Business Woman of the Year in Broadcasting 07, Spirit of Peace award winner 08, and in 2010 received the Presidents Volunteer Service Award and is the recipient of numerous commendations from both governmental and non profit organizations for her unending dedication to her community. Look for this Latina to bring her incredible talent for tackling issues that affect the world to a television near you soon!
