Andrea Letamendi, Ph.D.
Director of Clinical Training
Hathaway-Sycamores Child & Family Services

Dr. Andrea Letamendi is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who received her Bachelor's Degree from Cornell University (2002) and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Joint Doctoral Program of SDSU and UCSD in 2011. Following graduate school, Dr. Letamendi trained at UCLA as a postdoctoral scholar to study mental health interventions for children and adolescents. In 2013, Dr. Letamendi boldly transitioned from academia to begin working in the health services industry as an administrator and mental health advocate. As such, Dr. Letamendi currently serves as the Director of Clinical Training at Hathaway-Sycamores, a non-profit, private mental health agency where she provides training, education and consultation to mental health providers who work with children, teens, and young adults. Her areas of expertise include multicultural competency and diversity, treatment for trauma and stressor-related disorders, interventions for bullying and cyber-bullying, and psychological resiliency. Additionally, Dr. Letamendi serves on the Board of Directors of the Pop Culture Hero Coalition. She has led seminars and panels about psychology of pop culture narratives at Comic-Con and University of CA's Geek Week events. Additionally, she has appeared on live panels on CNN Headline News, Al Jazeera English, and The Huffington Post. Her TED Talk about Resiliency and Superheroes can currently be found online.
