Craig Hazenfield
Director of People Operations
Google

Craig joined Google in 2014 as a director in People Operations. He leads all things people-related for the Ads & Commerce product area, which is responsible for most of Google’s revenue-generating products - think AdWords, AdSense, Display and Video Ads, Google Shopping, Google Analytics...

Immediately prior to Google, Craig was VP, Global Talent Management at Staples, Inc. in Framingham, MA. He started at Staples in 2008 as VP, Strategy for Staples’ US retail business. Then in 2010 he was asked to lead HR for Staples US retail and Staples.com businesses. That’s when he discovered his passion for HR. In addition to his role on the retail leadership team, Craig also led efforts to transform the HR function at Staples, co-founded Staples first employee resource group - Out at Work - and played a key role in the creation of the Staples Share Fund, a 501(c)3 that provides immediate financial support to Staples employees who experience catastrophic life events.

Prior to Staples, Craig held leadership roles at companies including Deloitte Consulting and two companies owned by Patriarch Partners, a private equity firm. He also helped to found Abacus Solutions, a boutique consultancy.

Craig graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Business and minor in Russian language; he received his MBA from The Wharton School. A midwestern native - and having already covered much of the east coast - Craig now lives in San Francisco with his husband Ralph. When not Googling away, Craig loves to travel, get his butt kicked at Crossfit and attempt the New York Times crosswords in pen.
